How to find current cinema listings

Find the correct official cinema programme, check the venue, date and screen, and resolve stale listings, missing times and closure notices.

Check the official programme for the particular cinema and date. A film title on a website does not, by itself, confirm that the venue is showing it when you want to go. This guide gives you a repeatable way to get from a search result to a reliable visit plan.

Identify the exact venue

Match three things first: the cinema name, the town and the address. Buildings change names and operators, and a town may have both a former cinema and a different current venue.

Our Orpheus guide concerns Bristol Westbury Park. The Barry history guide concerns the former Theatre Royal and identifies the Memo Arts Centre separately. Follow the link for the venue you actually mean; do not transfer an old building’s facilities or contact details to another cinema in the same town.

Find the operator’s programme

From a venue’s official homepage, look for its programme or What’s On section. Check that the selected location has not changed while following a film or booking link. Some operators use a separate ticketing domain; reach it through the venue’s own site so that the connection is clear.

A useful performance record identifies:

  • The cinema and town.
  • The film or event, including any special edition or format.
  • The full calendar date and advertised start time.
  • The auditorium, where it is provided.
  • Any access or special-screening label.
  • The conditions and total shown before payment.

Save the exact performance link if the site provides one. A general film page can lead to several dates, venues or formats.

Check the date, screen and format together

A result labelled “now showing” can still be for another location. A release date is the date a film is intended to reach cinemas, not a booking for every cinema. “Coming soon” is a reason to check again, not confirmation of a particular session.

Use the screening-type guide if a label is unfamiliar. Where access depends on a screen, confirm that screen before choosing seats. Record the session details on the visit checklist.

Understand missing future times

A blank date is not enough evidence that a cinema has closed or that a film will never be shown. Programmes can be released in stages. For example, Cannock Cinema’s contact page, checked on 4 November 2026, says its main programme is confirmed on Mondays for the week beginning the following Friday; major releases and special events may appear earlier.

Check the venue’s stated booking window, select a date already covered by its programme, and look for an official update. If your planned visit depends on a specific future date, ask the operator when that week will be confirmed.

Read status notices before relying on film navigation

A website can retain film pages or a What’s On menu during an interruption. On 4 November 2026, the official sites for Plaza Dorchester and Carlton Westgate-on-Sea carried temporary-closure notices dated 30 October, alongside film navigation.

Treat an explicit dated venue notice as a prompt to check the operator’s latest position. A list of film titles does not cancel a closure notice. Our Plaza and Carlton guides retain their checked dates so you can judge the information’s age.

If two listings disagree

What you find The useful next check
A search snippet gives a time absent from the official programme Open the current date on the operator’s site and check whether the snippet is old.
A film appears but has no local performance Confirm the selected cinema and whether the booking window covers your date.
A directory calls a venue open but the operator posts a closure notice Read the full notice and seek a newer operator update before travelling.
Two official pages seem inconsistent Contact the venue with both links and the date you want; ask which information applies.
A site will not load Try the operator’s published contact route. A failed page load does not establish closure.

Finally, check the information again before leaving. Take the booking confirmation and contact the ticket seller about changes to a purchase; Reeltime does not hold bookings or sell tickets.
