Cannock Cinema: visitor guide and building history

Plan a Cannock Cinema visit with official listings, screen-specific wheelchair access, the weekly booking window and the history of its Walsall Road building.

Official programme

Cannock Cinema's official address is 12 Walsall Road, Cannock, WS11 0HE. The operator's What's On page advertised November performances when checked on 4 November 2026.

This independent guide helps you use those listings, choose the appropriate auditorium and understand the building's history. Tickets and current programme decisions remain with the cinema.

Understand the weekly booking window

The operator's contact page says the main programme is confirmed on Monday for the week beginning the following Friday; special events and major releases may appear earlier. Its FAQ allows for new times appearing on Monday evening or Tuesday.

If your chosen date has few or no listings, check whether the relevant week's programme has actually been released. An empty future date does not by itself establish that the cinema is closed or that a particular film will never be shown.

Once a performance is listed, confirm the day and time before selecting tickets. Avoid carrying a time across from a search snippet or an old screenshot. Keep the operator's booking confirmation as the record of what you bought.

Screen access is different in each auditorium

The cinema's FAQ states that Screen 1 is wheelchair accessible, with access to the toilets and box office, while Screen 2 is not wheelchair accessible. It also warns that screen assignments can change.

That makes the auditorium an essential part of an access enquiry. Ask the operator to confirm the assigned screen, the available wheelchair position or seat and any companion seating for your exact showing. If the screen later changes, confirm the arrangement again.

Before booking Before travelling
Establish which screen the performance uses. Check that the agreed screen and seating arrangement still apply.
Ask about the route, facilities and space you need. Keep the operator's answer with the booking confirmation.
Resolve any hearing, caption or audio-description requirement separately. Reconfirm equipment collection or assistance that has been arranged.

The distinction between screens is supported by the operator. Other features should be checked individually rather than inferred from a general access label. Use the access-question planner to structure the enquiry.

Arrival and parking

The operator's parking instructions describe a car park off Hall Court Lane and a registration process using a foyer tablet. Check the current instructions and signs when you arrive; do not assume that holding a cinema ticket automatically completes the parking process.

Allow enough time for both the cinema arrival and any access arrangement. Keep the return journey in mind if you are using public transport, and ask about the approximate finish where trailers or an interval could affect your plans.

The Electric Palace building

Cannock Chase District Council's December 2024 heritage assessment identifies the Electric Palace Picture House at the Walsall Road junction. It dates the opening as the Picture Palace to April 1914, attributes the design to C. W. D. Joynson and describes a red-brick early picture house. The assessment treats it as a non-designated heritage asset.

The building name and address together are the useful research clues. Cinema names such as Picture Palace or Electric Palace can recur, so matching a name alone is a poor way to connect an old photograph or newspaper report to this premises.

For further research, compare dated records and note any changes of name or use separately. Our cinema-history research guide includes a method for doing this without turning an uncertain match into an asserted history.

Put the visit together

Open the official programme, confirm the correct week and screening, then settle the screen and access questions before paying. The venue-comparison worksheet can help if another cinema offers a more suitable date or arrangement. This page records researched information at the date shown, not live availability.
